December 18, 2024 : The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) and the Indian Navy have partnered to boost India’s defence technology. An MOU formalizing this strategic partnership promotes naval technology.
The collaboration advances naval technology R&D and technological solutions. The alliance can solve field-level problems, improve training, and facilitate faculty and resource exchange by leveraging IIT Kanpur’s technology and innovation capabilities.
This effort would bring together INS Shivaji maritime engineers and IIT Kanpur academics. They will collaborate on R&D initiatives to provide the Indian Navy with cutting-edge solutions and keep it up-to-date on technological and digital advances.

Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, stressed the importance of this relationship.

As a result of IIT Kanpur’s partnership with the Indian Navy, India’s defense readiness and capabilities will improve significantly.
